Kinser Wins BOSS/Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint Car Feature!
Jordan Kinser picked up his second career win at Lawrenceburg and in doing so took over the point lead for The Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint Car Series. The Bedford, Indiana native, would start on the outside of the front row alongside of Shawn Westerfeld, a former track champion, and current point leader coming into the event. The green flag flew with Westerfeld and Kinser fighting for the lead. Westerfeld would grab the lead but his race would end when it appeared he hit the inside berm out of turn 4 and flipped on the front stretch. Westerfeld was uninjured and able to walk away. Unfortunately for him, he would end the night with a damaged race car and also lost the point lead to Kinser. When the racing resumed on lap 3, Kinser pulled away initially, but caution flags kept the rest of the competitor’s close. Carmen Perigo and Logan Jarrett raced sided by side for almost 15 laps with Jarrett finally working the high side to get around Perigo. Several drivers worked the high side trying to get some grip and find some moisture but no one could seem to find it. Kinser led the rest of the way with Jarrett second followed by Perigo, Drew Abel, and Landon Simon. Michael Fischesser came from 16th to finish 9th picking up the hard charger award. Heat race winners were Scotty Weir, Scotty Weir, Carmen Perigo and Drew Abel. The B Mains were won by Cole Ketchum and Joss Moffatt. The Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint Cars return to The Burg on Saturday August 5th.
Deckerd Wins First Modified Feature!
Jeff Deckerd had the night of his life at The Lawrenceburg Speedway. He drew the #1 pill for the start of his heat, which allowed him to lead from start to finish. He also drew the #1 in the redraw for the feature and that would put him on the pole for the 20 lap Budweiser UMP Modified feature. Although He had good luck, there was no doubt who the best car was this night. It was Deckerd who led all 20 laps and was never challenged for the lead. Former track champ, Matt Hamilton challenged early but his chances went away when the engine went away ending his chances at a win and or a good finish. Scottie Williams had his best career finish with his runner up finish followed by Kyle Schornick, David Spille and Joey Kramer. Heat race winners were Deckerd, Shornick, and Hamilton. Scotty Kincaid leads the points by 45 over David Spille. The Budweiser UMP Modifieds return to the Burg on Saturday August 5th.
Adam Love Wins First Hornet Feature!
His time had been coming. He maybe waited longer than he wanted but the time was now for Adam Love. The Lawrenceburg, Indiana kid grew up racing go karts at the flat track behind the main grandstand. He won races and championships. On this night, he would win his first on the big track in an impressive run holding off the Hornet Point leader in Cordell Moore. Love would start third behind Gary Whitt and Tyler McGehee. Adam Love would take the lead early with youngster, Bradley Eberhart making his way to second from 5th. Eberhart would challenge Love until a cut tire would send him to the pits. Series point leader Cordell Moore had to start 10th because he won the previous feature, would move his way up through the field fairly quickly and would race Love for the lead. On one restart, Moore passed Love. Usually not a good sign for a guy when they see Moore get around them. But Love didn’t give up and fought back to get the lead back from Moore. A couple more restarts would make the ending a little dicey for the leaders but in the end, Love was able to hold off Moore for the win. The rest of the top 5 was Chris Friedhoff, defending champ, Gage Clark who started 23rd and Clyde Saunders. Heat race winners were Gary Whitt, Cordell Moore, and Bradley Eberhart. Cordell Moore holds on to the lead in the Besslers U Pull N Save Hornet Class by 65 points over both Gage Clark and Adam Love. The Hornets will be back on track next Saturday August 5th.
Joel Andrews wins Purestock Feature!
Hamilton, Ohio’s Joel Andrews picked up his first Purestock win leading all 15 laps. Andrews showed he had the car to beat the entire night winning his heat and starting the pole. Defending track champ Don Grace had a rough night spinning out in his heat race twice but coming back to finish second in the feature. The rest of the top 5 were John Grace, Danny Eichler, and Chris Combs. Heat race winners were Andrews and John Grace. Chris Combs is the current point leader by 10 over defending champ Don Grace. The Impact Sports Purestocks return to the Burg on Saturday August 5th.
