Simon Wins First Feature at Lawrenceburg Speedway!

Coming off of a top 5 finish a week ago in the USAC show at Lawrenceburg Speedway, Landon Simon was poised to be the best at Lawrenceburg when the regular season opened for The Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint Cars. Simon dominated the Sprint Car feature by leading all 25 laps on his way to his first career feature win At Lawrenceburg and his first sprint car feature win in the state of Indiana. Simon jumped to lead from the outside front row starting position and pulled away from pole sitter Shawn Westerfeld and the rest of the field. A strong performance by Justin Grant earned him a second-place finish followed by Westerfeld, Michael Fischesser, and JJ Hughes. Heat race winners were Westerfeld and Simon. The Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint Cars return to the track on Saturday April 15th.

Herbert holds off Kramer and Wins!

Kyle Herbert won for the second time at Lawrenceburg, and the first time this year. He certainly earned this win as he took the lead early on and looked to be the car to beat. The all time winningest driver, Joey Kramer was moving his way to the front from his 4th starting position. Kramer first had to get around second place running Tony Anderson which he did on the high side out of turn 4. He set up Herbert a few laps later in the same spot and led by half a car length at the start finish line. Herbert knew he had 1 chance to get back around Kramer and if he wasn’t a ble to make the pass, Kramer most likely would have won the race. Herbert drove to the inside in turn one and slid up into Kramer’s left front, forcing Kramer to let off the gas and Herbert to retake the league. The two leaders battled the remaining laps but Herbert was able to hold off any remaining challenges. Kramer finished second followed by Anderson, Kyle Schornick, and Scotty Kincaid. Heat race winners were Spille and Kramer. The Budweiser UMP Modifieds return to the track on Saturday April 15th.

Dalton Smith Dominates Hornet Feature!

Last year’s runner up, Dalton Smith wasted no time in the second race of the season to show he will be a contender for the championship. Smith started on the outside front row and led all 12 laps to win for the first time in 2017 and the 7th win of his career in a hornet. Last week’s winner, Josh Hammond, who started 13th finished second followed by defending champ Gage Clark, Michael Friemuth, and Josh Atkins. Heat race winners were Dalton Smith, Gage Clark, and Adam Love. The Besslers U Pull N Save Hornets return to the speedway on Saturday April 15th.

Defending Champ Grace wins Purestock Feature!
Don Grace picked up right where he left off the 2016 season in championship style. He led all 15 laps to pick up his 4th career win at Lawrenceburg on the opening night of the season for the purestocks. Father son duo Chris and Christopher Combs battled with John Grace for the runner up spot the entire 15 laps. The Combs clan raced each other hard before son Christopher was able to pass his dad Chris and secure the second spot in the race. Chris finished third followed by John Grace, and Rick Vance. Heat race winners were John Grace and Don Grace. The Impact Sports Purestocks return to the track on Saturday April 15th.
