Leary Wins Sprint Feature!
Former sprint car track champ CJ Leary would come to Lawrenceburg driving his family owned #30 for the first time in Indiana in 2016. He would start from the 6th position and quickly make his way to second behind Shawn Westerfeld who had led from the beginning. As the leaders began to race into lap traffic, Leary found himself about a straightaway behind Westerfeld. When a car slowed on the backstretch, the caution flag came out, bringing the field back together. On the restart, it only took Leary 2 laps to get around Westerfeld for the lead. Leary would lead the rest of the way for his first win of the year at Lawrenceburg and the 8th of his career at The Burg. The rest of the top 5 was Westerfeld, Garrett Abrams, Josh Hodges, and Jordan Kinser. Heat race winners were Westerfeld, Leary, and Abrams. Matt Goodnight won the B Main. Jarrett Andretti leads the Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint Cars point standings, and they return to the track on Saturday July 23rd.
Kincaid Gets First Career Win!
2 time track champion Scotty Kincaid has had so many wins taken away at the last second. But at the end of each of these near wins, he would always suffer a mechanical failure or crash or another car would pass him for the win. Tonight it was pure destiny for Kincaid. He got the lead early starting on the outside of the front row and never looked back. Although David Spille fought hard to get the lead on the low side, Kincaid was able to maintain the lead by keep his momentum up on the high side of the track. As Kincaid pulled in to victory lane, the crowd let him know how much they appreciated his hard work and effort to final pick up a feature win. Spille finished second followed by Matt Hamilton, Kyle Schornick and Tyler Jones. Heat race winners were Kincaid, Hamilton and Spille. The Budweiser Modifieds return to the Burg on July 2nd for the Merrill Downey Memorial.
Clark finally gets First Feature Win of Year!
Gage Clark has finished second 5 times this year in Hornet features. After 5 runner up finishes, Clark would seal the deal. He started from the outside front row alongside Ryan Eversole who was subbing for Brandon Caudill. The race would be close for all 12 laps as Clark battled it out with Eversole and others. Point leader Dalton Smith was battling up front when he lost a wheel ending his night. Rookie Adam Love finished 3rd his best career finish followed by Rookie Bradley Eberhart, and Tim Baird. Heat race winners were Baird, Smith and Clark. The Besslers U Pull N Save Hornets wont return to the Burg until July 23rd.
Grace Wins Feature and Sets Goals on Championship!
For most of the 15 lap Impact Sport Pure Stock feature it looked as though rookie Chris Combs Jr. would pick up his first win. He dominated the feature until a late caution bunched the field up. On the restart, Don Grace was able to get underneath Combs Jr. and eventually take the lead and hold on for the win. Combr Jr. finished second followed by Danny Eichler, Scott Williams and Steve Upchurch. Heat race winners were Combs Jr, and Will McRoberts. The Impact Sports Purestocks return to Lawrenceburg on July 23rd.
