Andretti Picks Up First Career Win!
Jarrett Andretti has been searching for his first win for the last several years. He continued to look for the right combination to get it done. And on this night, he finally did it. He would take the green flag from the pole for the 25 lap feature. As the green flag flew, outside pole sitter Dickie Gaines would grab the lead from Andretti. Gaines would begin to pull away. Defending track champ, Joss Moffatt passed Andretti for second and through lapped traffic, was able to catch and pass Gaines for the lead. As the race passed the halfway mark, Moffatt was blistering the field. As he came up on a slower car, Moffatt’s left front hit the right rear of the slower car and Moffatts car was sent hard into the outside wall ending Moffatt’s night. That turned the lead back over the Gaines who would lead them back to the restart with Andretti following. Andretti would wait for his move and as they exited turn two with 3 laps remaining, he jumped to outside of Gaines and powered his way to the lead. Andretti led the rest of the way en route to his first career Sprint Car Victory! Gaines was second followed by Drew Abel, Jake Scott and Braxton Cummings. Heat race winners were Abel and Gaines. The Kelsey Chevrolet Sprint Cars return to Lawrenceburg on Saturday May 14th for the King of the Midwest Sprints paying $2500 to win.
Kramer Dominates again!
Hanover, Indiana’s Joey Kramer won for the 37th time at his home track and the third time in 2016. Kramer would start from the outside front row alongside Broc Burton. He would grab the lead on a restart on lap 2 and never look back. Leading 19 of the 20 laps. Kyle Herbert finished second followed by Scotty Kincaid, David Spille and Matt Hamilton. Heat race winners were Kincaid and Kramer. The Budweiser UMP Modifieds return to the Burg on Saturday May 14th.
Defending Champ Baird Wins For First Time at Burg!
The Bessler’s U Pull N Save Hornets never fail to disappoint and they were at it again on this night. Michelle Baird would start from the pole alongside Ryan Eversole. The two battled for the lead with Gage Clark also in the mix. Clark’s night came to an end when his engine erupted in fire. This turned the lead over to Eversole who held on to the lead as Michelle Baird battled to his inside and looked to be quicker. Her chance at a victory went away when a flat right front sent her to the pits. Her right front tire has plagued her all year. With both Clark and Michelle Baird out of contention, it looked like Eversole would pull away for the win. Another challenger rose to the occasion in defending track champ Tim Baird. The caution came out with 1 lap to go setting up a 1 lap shootout to the end. On the restart, coming out of the final turn, Baird was able to sneak around Eversole and hold on for the win. His first career victory at Lawrenceburg. Eversole was second followed by Dalton Smith, Tony Napier, and Adam Love. Heat race winners were Gage Clark, Tony Napier and Dalton Smith. The Besslers U Pull N Save Hornets return to the Burg on Saturday May 14th.
Largent Does it Again!
JD Largent dominated for the second week in a row in the Impact Sports Pure Stocks feature for his second win this year, and his 3rd overall in a Purestock. Although Largent led every lap, second place finisher Don Grace was only 1-2 car lengths behind the winner the entire race. Grace was never able to get close enough to challenge however. The rest of the top 5 was Corebin McRoberts, Chris Combs and Danny Eichler. Heat race winners were Combs and Largent. The Impact Sports Purestocks return to Lawrenceburg on Saturday May 14th.
